Lions' Senior Book Club In-Person

Christopher McDougall’s “Running with Sherman” tells a heartfelt story. It follows McDougall as he rescues a donkey named Sherman from an animal hoarder. Initially, he and his family think taking in Sherman will be easy. However, upon arrival, they discover Sherman is severely malnourished, unable to walk, and emotionally broken. McDougall realizes that he must help Sherman not just physically, but mentally too. He learns that the best way to heal a donkey is to give it a purpose. With this idea in mind, McDougall decides to train Sherman for a burro race in Colorado. Training for the race unfolds as a tale of rehabilitation, friendship, and resilience.

All adults welcome to join the discussion (need not be in the Lions' Club to participate).
