Dahlias In-Person
“DAHLIAS – The Flower of All Flowers” – Mark Zelonis, former Deputy Director of Environmental & Historic Preservation at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Mamata Patel, Vice-President of the Zionsville Cultural District, will present a slide-illustrated talk on one of their favorite flowers, the Dahlia. Detailing its history from its origins in Mexico to its spread across the globe, they will recount its several waves of popularity over time and provide helpful tips on their culture. They will also speak of the flower’s connection to the town of Zionsville and of the annual dahlia tuber give-away conducted each May by the Cultural District.
