Indiana State Bar Association Courthouse Artwork collection - Exhibit Opening Reception - In-Person
You are cordially invited to the opening reception for a unique art exhibit featuring the Courthouse of Indiana.
Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library is pleased to host a portion of the Indiana State Bar Association Courthouse Artwork collection. We will host 15 pieces of art featuring County Courthouses from Boone, Clinton, Carroll, Cass, Hamilton, Hendricks, Marion, Montgomery, Morgan, Parke, Putnam, Tipton, Tippecanoe, Vigo, and White counties.
Indiana’s county courthouses stand as enduring symbols of stability, civility, and community—soaring towers that rise above town squares and rural landscapes like secular cathedrals. Through their differing architectural styles and details, each courthouse tells a unique story of a county’s beginnings, aspirations, and development.
In 2007, local attorney Douglas Church set out on an ambitious mission to collect artwork representing all 92 Indiana county courthouses, a remarkable feat he and his daughter Julia Kozicki completed in 2025. On September 12, hear the fascinating—and occasionally humorous—stories behind Doug’s journey, along with insights from his daughter and fellow attorney Julia Kozicki.
The informational session will be followed by a brief reception and an opportunity to experience the exhibit and enjoy the art.
